The film's subject is the history of the sculpture "Diana" by Jean A. Houdon, which is located in the Palace on the Water in Łazienki Królewskie. Stanisław August presents a bust of Diana to his court – a new addition to his collection of art. In the contemporary storyline, the film tells the story of the bust's recovery by Polish authorities after it was looted during the war, having been found in the catalog of a Viennese auction house.
