During the spring of 1945 a German general tries to leave his castle lair in the Western part of the country and join his troops. Due to a coincidence, he is trapped by a Polish soldier and a Soviet woman soldier. A series of comic mistakes and basements full of alcohol lead to a peaceful end of the war and a Polish-Soviet love.
