The war puts the friendship of children from one of Warsaw's tenement houses to the test. Some of the children, following the example of their parents, express their solidarity with their Jewish friends. Other children, however, join the anti-Semitic campaign. The ghetto uprising of 1943 is the culmination of the tragedy.
