A fugitive from Auschwitz, looking for shelter, ends up in a monastery. As a result of his escape, members of the SS sentence 10 prisoners to death by starvation. Maksymilian Kolbe, a Franciscan, is one of them. He is a volunteer, he saved an inmate’s life.
