A Soviet military base excluded from Polish jurisdiction was established on the site of the garrison in the village of Linde (Lipie) and the Nazi POW camp in 1945. In October 1992, after the departure of the Soviet troops, the place was taken over by the Polish administration to establish the city of Borne Sulinowo here on the 5th of June 1993.
