On the 29th of May President Lech Wałęsa arrives in the Sejm: instead of appointing a new prime minister (he was allowed to do so by the so-called Small Constitution), he dissolves the parliament and appoints new elections. Right-wing parties organise a rally at Castle Square to celebrate the anniversary of the fall of Jan Olszewski's government, the police intervene.
