The last among the first four Prime Ministers of the Third Republic of Poland is Waldemar Pawlak, who was not a former member of the “Solidarity” movement. On 2 July, on day after he was sworn in, Prime Minister Pawlak declared he was unable to form a government and asked the President to dismiss him. The Democratic Union submitted the candidature of Hanna Suchocka.
