40 years ago, in July 1950, Cyrankiewicz and Grotewohl, the prime ministers of Poland and the GDR, signed an agreement between the two satellite countries in the border town of Zgorzelec. The GDR had to recognize the border on the Oder and Neisse. In November 1989, the division of Germany ends. A year later, a united Germany recognizes the existing border with Poland.
