In the 1920s, Poznań merchants proposed to organise a permanent trade fair and exhibition institution. In May 1921, preparations were completed and the 1st Poznań Trade Fair was opened. Currently, the international trade fair is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The opening ceremony was attended by Edward Gierek and Piotr Jaroszewicz.
