The 1st of August – an anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. Ceremonies take place by the Nike statue and in the Powazki cemetery. Young people graduate from the Officer's School of MO (the Citizens’ Militsiya) in Szczytno. The Sound Palace has been opened at the Feature Film Studio in Lodz. The giraffe, which was born in the Poznan Zoo, will be called Sawanka.
