The 22nd of July 1962: the ‘Patnow’ lignite mine and the ‘Czechowice-Dziedzice’ refinery are launched. The celebration of the Day of the Rebirth of Poland with party and state authorities is held in Gdansk. The city celebrates its 1000th anniversary. The slogan of the millennium is: ‘Gdansk - was, is and will be a Polish city’.
